The Punjab School Education Department has officially announced a major change in school timings and weekly schedule across the province. According to the latest notification issued on April 1, 2026, all public and private schools in Punjab will now follow a four-day working week.

Update – 4-Day School Week in Punjab
Under the new policy:
- Schools will operate Monday to Thursday only
- Friday will remain closed until further notice
- Saturday & Sunday will continue as regular holidays
This means students will now have three consecutive days off every week, marking a significant shift in the education schedule.
New School Timings in Punjab (2026)
The revised timings apply to both single-shift and double-shift schools.
Single-Shift Schools
- Timing: 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM
Double-Shift Schools
Morning Shift:
- 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Afternoon Shift:
- 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM
All schools are required to strictly follow these updated timings.

The notification has been circulated to all district authorities. Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of District Education Authorities have been instructed to ensure full compliance with the new schedule.
The announcement has also been confirmed by Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, who endorsed the decision publicly.
